What the formatter fixes
Consistent lists
Mixed *, + and - bullets become one marker, with consistent indentation and ordered list numbering.
Aligned tables
GFM tables are padded so columns line up and are easy to read in source form.
Tidy spacing
Extra blank lines are collapsed and every block is separated by exactly one blank line.
Safe by design
YAML front matter, fenced code, and LaTeX math are kept intact while the surrounding structure is cleaned up.
Markdown Formatter FAQ
Will formatting change how my Markdown renders?
No. The formatter only rewrites syntax into a consistent style; the rendered result stays the same. A few ambiguous constructs may be normalized, so review the output for critical documents.
Does it support GitHub Flavored Markdown?
Yes. Tables, task lists, strikethrough and autolinks are supported, along with LaTeX math and YAML front matter.
Is my document uploaded?
No. Formatting happens locally in your browser and your text never leaves your device.
Can I preview the formatted document?
Yes. Paste the output into the Markdown Viewer editor on the home page to see the live preview and export to PDF, HTML or Word.
