At Markdown Viewer, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your data. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our service.

Data Collection and Storage

Important: We do not persist user-input Markdown content in a database or document store.

Live preview, browser autosave, HTML export, and Word export are processed on your device. Autosave uses your browser's local storage. When you request PDF export, the rendered HTML and CSS are sent temporarily to our PDF endpoint so a server-side Chrome process can generate the file. The service returns the PDF without persistently storing the submitted document content.

Information We Collect

We may collect minimal technical information necessary for the operation of our service:

  • Standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, access times) for security and analytics purposes
  • Page views and feature events through our analytics systems; these services may process IP addresses and browser information
  • Cookies, local storage and similar technologies used by enabled analytics and advertising services

We do not collect:

  • A persistent copy of your Markdown document content
  • Your contact details unless you submit the contact form or email us
  • The text of your document in analytics events

Third-Party Services

We use Google Analytics and a self-hosted Plausible analytics endpoint to understand page visits and feature use. Google may process cookies, IP addresses and browser information under its own policies. Plausible receives page paths and limited event details through our server, along with IP address and browser information for visitor measurement. Neither analytics integration sends your Markdown document text. Contact form messages, including your name and email address, are delivered through our email provider, Resend. PDF export temporarily sends rendered HTML and CSS to our server for file generation.

Advertising and your choices

This site has an ads.txt record for Google AdSense. If Google ads are enabled, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses or other identifiers to serve and measure ads.

Google and other advertising vendors may use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site or other websites. Google's advertising cookies enable it and its partners to show ads based on those visits. Other ad networks may also use cookies if third-party ad serving is enabled; their policies and opt-out controls are available from the vendors or the industry choice page below.
